Tear down the language and cultural barriers to make your upcoming years at ISU happier, more successful, and more enjoyable.
Hello, my name is Boris. I am 21 years old, and I am a sophomore student in the International Tourism & Hospitality department at ISU International College. Since I have been studying in the IC for over 2 years, I was asked to type a few words to this year’s new students, and share my experience with you.

To further introduce myself, I come from Slovakia – located in Central Europe – and I am one of the many international students who decided to leave their country for their higher education. I enrolled in the IT&H department back in the fall of 2014, and I can tell that this was one the best decisions of my life because being part of this department is like being part of a family. Even though I do not speak Mandarin, it has never been a big problem to learn or to socialize as the teaching environment at IC is mostly in English. In other words, IC is the best environment if you are looking forward to improving your both Mandarin and English skills. In addition these two languages are not the only languages you are going to notice. Besides me, the International College of ISU is full of international students and teachers from all over the world - Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa, Honduras, France, Germany and many, many more…

I believe that studying at the International College of I-Shou University is a great chance for all students who are looking forward to expanding their international knowledge or experience. You are going to meet new people and their new cultures with them, and I can tell you that this is the best opportunity how to learn or improve your skills in one the most important languages on the world – English. Work on your confidence, do not shy away, and expand your network because the only way how to make new friends, especially with those with different backgrounds and cultures, is to step out of your comfort zone. This all will help you to start off a successful future; however, no need to worry since the International College is filled with amazing people, professors, and staff, who are ready to help you at any time with any of your problems.

In conclusion, I would like to tell you that with a little bit of boldness and fearlessness you will easily take this new challenge up. Tear down the language and cultural barriers to make your upcoming years at ISU happier, more successful, and more enjoyable.

I would like to wish you the best luck, and an experience filled with unforgettable people and memories.
